Why our readers upgrade

Love all the changes you guys are making! Keep up the great, great work - we need you now more than ever!

The Week in Review is very helpful. As the daily email sometimes is a bit too long to read through everyday. Keep up the good work guys! Your existence has been so helpful to me, who recently immigrated to the US, to learn about the US politics and societal issues. Hearing opinions from more than one side and think critically on each matter is how we could bridge the big divide and move forward as one country. You guys keep me sane at this crazy time!

Hey folks, I love this weekly brief recap by topic!!!  Sometimes I don't have enough time to read the deeper dives.  These are great summaries.

After loving the weekly recaps, I now LOVE these deep dives.  A group of friends and I try to have very nuanced conversations about tough topics as practice for real world discussions and stuff like this is extremely helpful!  We had a conversation around abortion a while back actually and could have used foundational Information like this.

Love the "Week in Review"! I sometimes don't get to read the daily emails and feel the pressure of deleting it or holding onto it for another day. With the weekly review, I can always check back on the weekend. Great work.

This email has been a big boon to my morning routine. I feel more aware of global news events of the day and more equipped to talk about them with a range of people. Really a gift (and the light hearted end piece consistently makes me smile)

I have loved being able to read through the news of both political sides. Previously it would take me a lot longer to switch between news websites, I'm thankful for the time this saves!

It's hard to find both sides of an argument without a lot of research. Flipside is indispensable for anyone trying to understand all sides of a given topic. Everyone should get this email. I especially appreciate that you include thoughtful opinions in your emails rather than more extreme opinions that are out there. Well done and thank you!

During the aftermath of George Floyd's death, I realized that my news sources and networks all had the same narrative. While I do my best to respect different opinions, it was clear that I didn't actually come across them very much. So, when I saw an ad for The Flip Side and read the backgrounds of the editorial team, it was a no brainer. Thank you for helping me get a better and, more importantly, balanced point of view. We're not going to get anything done if we don't respectfully understand where the other side is coming from.

You've become an integral part of my morning routine; thanks for that!

I am a NYC teacher and The Flip Side has helped me teach students the different sides to a story when I have struggled to see the other side of certain issues.

As media becomes more and more polarized to attract readers, I feel that I never get a full picture of what is going on. The Flip Side has provided me that quick glance at what is being said across the country on key issues and leaves me feeling more educated and well-rounded in my opinions. Also, as a moderate, the Flip Side has really helped me nail down which parties I agree with around which issues.

The Flip Side is the first thing I read every morning and has really broadened my perspective on the issues facing our nation.

I teach high school social studies. I wanted to find a site that students could go to that shows them both sides to an issue. This site does just that. This allows kids to read both sides and then decide where they fit on the issue. Plus I love that it has links to the original stories if you want to read more. It's AWESOME!!!

I am so happy to be receiving this newsletter every day! For the first time in my life, I feel like I actually understand what reporters are sharing about important issues, one at a time. I am gaining more compassion and understanding for other perspectives. Thank you Flip Side!

I appreciate hearing a good argument, even if I disagree with it. And as often as not, I find myself nodding along with "the other side." Zero hate, all content (and you even give the libertarians a voice, which is refreshing).

some sanity and clarity in a world of polarization

The Flip Side email is pretty darn close to perfect - succinct and organized yet full of information from several different viewpoints. My opinions are challenged with each email, and that’s a great thing.

I find your newsletter extremely helpful to maintain perspective in a time when perspective seems frighteningly scarce.

The Flip Side is the only news source I trust for equal and honest representation of multiple perspectives on issues of the day

This is everything I am looking for. Brief, balanced, and highly factual.

Unfortunately, getting diverse viewpoints about the news requires us to examine each source carefully. TFS is thorough and provides multiple perspectives, even libertarians. It’s a great way to help you consider the hot topics of the day with sources and links for your own exploration.

Thank you for helping me stay apprised of key issues and the perspectives of many facets (right, left, top, bottom....) until our elected officials find the journey to meet somewhere in the 'middle'.

In an increasingly polarized time in America, The Flip Side gives its readers the gift of perspective, and an opportunity to break out of self-imposed media bubbles. My hope is that civil discourse will improve as efforts like The Flip Side gain traction. Thanks for all the hard work and keep it up!

I have largely avoided reading news for the last 10 years because I wasn’t sure what sources to trust, and I was overwhelmed by how I’d figure that out. After reading your emails for just a week, I was drawn to the “ring of truth” in the way I could clearly see how each side talks a little bit past each other by focusing on different aspects of the same issue. This is exactly what I was looking for, and it’s a relief to know I can trust what I’m reading because of the level at which you fact-check it. I have hope that I may, in a couple years, finally be able to form my own opinions about political matters, which is hugely empowering. You deserve to be supported for making this source of information exist.
